So I was looking for my blog, wondering what happened to it, not realizing I have two blog sites. Duh. Not sure I’m going to keep this one, because I have trouble keeping it updated, but we’ll see.
Yay! My story (officially titled “Home” but we had to change it for the mag’s guidelines) “Born in a Dead World” is up over at SNM Horror Mag!
Because I placed second for the month of December, my story will also appear in SNM’s Bonded By Blood anthology.
And, what the hell, I’ll pimp the last few anthologies, too!
“Rapture” is in Seven Archons Press’ Writings on the Wall anthology:
And of course the Static Movement anthologies: Deals with the Devil and I Swear This is True
And if you’re looking for some reading that’s not all about me, my interview with Stony Graves is up over at Blood Bound Books. http://bloodboundbooks.net/bloodboundbooks/?page_id=502
It’s been an insanely hot, inert kind of month. Hopefully this weather will break soon
I see my last post was censored. For language, maybe? Or is Big Brother watching. Or maybe it just got lost and I’m a dork.
I posted this review of KJ Moore’s AWESOME novella Monster P*rn over on Amazon, but will re-post it here. The e-book is cheap (but not free), and it’s well worth a couple of hours. I only wish it went on for another fifty pages.
Look for my interview with the author over at Blood Bound Books.
–An oddly poignant tale about a sordid culture, Monster P*rn is, at its heart, a
love story. Best described as transgressive literary fiction, the book is
entertaining and often laugh-out-loud funny, while preserving its characters’
dignity. This would be difficult, given the subject matter, but Moore’s
description of “freak” p*rn finds its place not in leering over details
(although there are plenty) but in creating sympathy for the awkwardness of each
I would have given this five stars, but at only 64 pages, the
story needed more to fill it out, particularly the gap before the last chapter
when we learn Chloe’s fate. I would have liked to know more of the “freaks,”
too. Overall, though, a great job from an up-and-coming writer.
OK, I’ve decided to try some more online writing (again). It’s been a long time since I kept a regular blog, and Facebook just won’t cut it.
Over on my livejournal blog (livejournal.com/~synaesthetik), I had started doing a few book and movie revies. Likewise Goodreads (I’m selenem there too, I think). So why not blog there?
As the title suggests, new stuff. And I think new stuff requires a new blog. Perhaps I’ll revert to livejournal when I get bored, but for now, I’ll try this one.
Of late, I’ve been contacting and sharing comments (I think some people call it networking) with a number of independent horror authors. Many of them write and publish their work on Amazon, and as publicity, offer freebies on same…I’m constantly downloading these things with the intention of reading them, but never seem to find the time.
Here’s what I’d like to do: When I read a new novel/novella/story on Amazon, I’ll write a brief review of it here.
Here’s to free stuff and good reading.
Here are some suggestions for your first post.
